Treatment begins with the development of a clear understanding of you and the circumstances you face. I have no idea in advance about what you will need – we have to determine that together. I offer as broad a perspective and range of treatment options as I can, and I expect to work with you to match the treatment to your needs. The basic treatment modalities are:
- Individual psychotherapy
- Marital or couple therapy
- Family therapy
We may choose to work in one of these ways, or to vary the approach. Common variants include having individual and couple therapy with the same therapist, or couple work with one therapist and individual with others.
Psychotherapy can be used to address a wide range of personal and interpersonal issues, which might include
- Parent counseling and support
- Grief counseling
- Stress management
- Drug and alcohol therapy
- Anger management
- Post-traumatic stress (PTSD)
Many people have more than one issue to deal with, and the problems may be interconnected.
